Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a wholistic manual healthcare system to assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of health challenges. It works with the body to encourage healing and repair, and to promote optimal function. Osteopaths work with people at all stages of life, from babies to the elderly and everyone in between.
Assessments are based on a detailed case history and examination, with treatments involving a combination of:
-
Movement
-
Stretching
-
Manipulation
-
Targeted deep tissue massage
The aim is to improve function, relieve pain and aid recovery. Osteopaths have a range of techniques and will discuss all options with the patient before commencing any treatment.
Osteopathic treatments are tailored specifically for each patient after considering biological, psychological and social factors, rather than simply viewing the presenting symptom in isolation. The aim is to improve a person’s health and function rather than treating isolated conditions.

What Osteopathy Can Help With
There are a number of more common conditions for which patients often seek osteopathic treatment; however the list does not indicate the full scope of osteopathic care. As healthcare professionals we have an obligation to provide treatments based on current research so please ask if you have an unusual condition you require help with.
Musculoskeletal Pain
Musculoskeletal pain can arise from acute injury or from chronic conditions such as Arthritis or disc degeneration.
Pregnancy & Post-Natal Support
Pregnancy and post-natal support is a specialist area of care during a time of rapid change in your body.
Children: Growth & Development
This can be a challenging time for us all! From birth strain to breastfeeding difficulties, childhood injuries to sleep disturbance, there are a multitude of changes to navigate during this stage of life.
Family Sessions
Family sessions offer systemic therapeutic approaches to work with complex health challenge.
Who Osteopathy Is For
Osteopaths treat babies, the elderly and everyone in between. With detailed knowledge of the changing human form throughout life and the therapeutic aim of improving health and function, osteopathic care is appropriate for people of all ages and functional abilities.
We also offer osteopathy for pregnant women: postural changes during pregnancy are normal physiological adaptations to increased weight and softened ligaments. This can lead to additional pressure on joints and tissue strain resulting in pain. We can support your changing body to reduce the strain and more comfortably cope with the demands of pregnancy. Post-partum recovery can also be assisted with osteopathy.

What To Expect In An Appointment
Osteopathy appointments generally include time to discuss your concerns, examination and assessment, co-creation of a treatment plan, physical therapy and lifestyle advice.
Treatments are tailored specifically for each patient after considering biological and psycho-social factors, rather than simply viewing the presenting symptom in isolation. Rather than treating ‘conditions’, the aim is to improve a person’s health and function, to relieve pain, aid recovery and support new patterns and habits going forward.
Osteopaths have a range of techniques and will discuss all options with the patient before commencing treatment.

Light touch fascia or membrane balancing
As Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHP’s), Osteopaths are regulated and can work closely with GPs, nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals, as well as complementary health practitioners involved in a patients care.
Training & Regulation
Osteopaths in the UK study a degree programme for 4-5 yeasrs, which includes anatomy, physiology, pathology, nutrition and biomechanics and supervised clinical training. Once qualified Osteopaths must be registered with the profession’s regulatory body, the General Osteopathic Council, and continue their professional development with monitored ongoing learning. They must also hold insurance and an enhanced DBS certificate.
There are currently more than 5,500 Osteopaths in the UK who carry out more than seven million consultations every year, which accounts for 30,000 appointments per working day!

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)
BCST is a gentle hands-on body therapy, using a highly developed sense of touch to support the health & function of the nervous system, cerebrospinal fluid and connective tissues.
Originating from Osteopathy, this approach can help the body to process, re-balance, re-source and access deep states of relaxation. In this way it can be helpful for people with chronic pain, overwhelm and anxiety issues, digestive problems and sleep disorders, as well as general maintenance of your health. What Our Clients Say
"I always look forward to my appointments with Chloe. Chloe helps me switch off and restore, to take time for myself, to pause the demands of life for a short while. She really has healing hands, and from the moment my head is placed in her hands, a deep sense of calm and stillness comes over me. I find her approach very holistic. She works to understand what is going on beneath the physical symptoms and works at a much deeper level. I am perpetually overthinking, but I find all the noise stops once my cranial session begins. This has been so valuable to me. I've been seeing Chloe for years now - she has helped me through various different chronic illnesses and has also treated my son as a baby. She has helped me enormously over the years."
